Mary put her phone in her pocket and checked that she could back out. It only took her a few minutes to reach her destination. Mary parked outside a hair salon on Main Street. She shut off the truck, grabbed her keys and coffee and headed to the door. Before she could knock, the door pushed open and she was grabbed and yanked inside. Mary’s best friend, Carol Davis shut and locked the door again.
“Why the 911 text?” Carol asked, her brown eyes sparkling with excitement. Her short pixie cut and dyed black hair made her look younger than she was.
“I think I just got asked out.” Mary said.
“Huh? You’re not sure?” Carol asked while tilting her head, making Mary think of a confused dog.
“Well, he didn’t exactly ask me out, but he implied it.” Mary tried to explain.
“Ah. So he is testing the waters. Who is it? One of your clients?” Carol asked.
“No. The photographer I hired.”
“No way! Seriously! He’s so hot!” Carol spluttered.
“How do you know what he looks like?” Mary asked. She hadn’t known what he looked like until she saw him.
“I Googled him.” Carol shrugged. “I bet he’s hotter in person!”
“Carol!” Mary exclaimed, laughing. She loved her friend’s enthusiasm.
